We are currently reviewing our HR Policy Manual.   I was wondering if anyone could share their Bereavement section of the HR Policy Manual?

    Thanks!

    Hi Betsy,

My organization calls this "Compassionate Leave", and for management policy is as follows:

Compassionate Leave is provided in the event of the death of an immediate family member for the purpose of attending a funeral or attending to related matters.

All management employees are eligible for up to five (5) days compassionate leave with pay in the event of a death in the employee's immediate family.

    Immediate family includes:

    - spouse or common-law spouse

    - child, grandchild, including step and in law

    - parent, parent in law, grandparent including step

    - siblings including in law

In the event of the death of a close friend or other relative, 1 paid day to attend the funeral service.
