    Good afternoon,

    I have been working for a non-profit in the role of Executive Assistant for the past 7 years.  My role includes both work with the CEO as well as our Board of Governors.

    While my current work title is 'Executive Assistant to the CEO' I am considering whether to suggest a change to Executive Assistant and Board Liaison'. 

    Can any of you offer some professional advice or experience in this regard?

    Hi Gail,

    When I was hired in my current job it was as the Board Liaison.  When the EA retired, I took over her role as well.  I changed my title but kept Board Liaison first, as that was my original role.  Here is my signature now:

    Hi Gail, I serve as Executive Assistant to my CEO and also assist the Board of Directors, however my job title is just "Executive Assistant", as I report to the CEO, and he reports to the Board (even though a large portion of the Board work falls to me). I think your suggested change of title to "Executive Assistant and Board Liaison" is a good one, as long as it doesn't compromise the reporting relationships currently in place between you, your CEO and the Board.     Our company updated all job descriptions last summer. I successfully lobbied for a change from EA to the CEO to
    Board Services Manager.

    A far more accurate descriptor of my position.
